AMA-CON was at the Amarillo Civic Center Complex this weekend and thousands of residents from around the panhandle attended to celebrate pop culture.
Vendors packed exhibit halls at the Civic Center while gamers and cosplayers moved toward their respective rooms for tournaments. Several famous fantasy authors were also on hand, signing books and participating in panels. Patrick Rothfuss, who was one of the key headliners from the event, was on hand to sign copies of the books from his popular "Kingkiller Chronicles" series.
Fans stood outside of the convention to take pictures with fans dressed in costumes from a wide array of pop culture niches. Groot of "Guardians of the Galaxy" stood outside and took photos with fans, as did cosplayers dressed as characters from "Star Wars'" Obi Wan Kenobi all the way to "Frozen"'s Elsa.
The event was highly successful and proceeds went to benefit the Friends of the Amarillo Public Library.
