The San Jacinto Christian Academy Patriots won during Thursday night's opening to the 2017 high school football season.
San Jacinto Christian Academy shocked local pundits with a first night win over the Kingdom Prep Academy Knights. With new head coach Matt Tarbutton at the helm, San Jacinto rocked Kingdom Prep, 54-7. This was San Jacinto's first opening night win in eight years.
San Jacinto's win over the Kingdom Knights was the first opening night win for the team since 2009. In 2009, with former Dallas Cowboys star Alexander Wright serving as head coach, San Jacinto defeated the Groom Tigers, 58-12. Head coaches Shane Wallace, Dan Fort and Julian Reese were unable to deliver the opening night wins for the next eight years.
Last night was also notable, as it was San Jacinto's first foray into the world of 6-Man football.
Next week, San Jacinto will be away, facing the Anton Bulldogs.
