The Rodeo Is Over: Midnight Rodeo Closes

The Midnight Rodeo nightclub in Amarillo has officially closed its doors.

It was announced yesterday that the nearly 30 year-old nightclub has closed its doors in Amarillo. The owners of Midnight Rodeo announced the closing on Facebook with a statement saying, "Life is a party, and parties aren’t meant to last. Thanks for the support, Amarillo!"

The closings came as a surprise as it was not disclosed that the nightclub planned to cease operations this week. Several concerts were still planned on Midnight Rodeo's calendar, including a December show from the highly popular Eli Young Band.

Other Midnight Rodeo events including the September Birthday Bash and the Revenge of the Nerds party also appear to be cancelled.

Midnight Rodeo first opened in Amarillo in 1989. Its parent company, Associated Club Management, appears to own several other nightclubs around the state, including several Midnight Rodeo locations.

Other Midnight Rodeo locations in Texas, including one location in San Angelo, are expected to remain open.
