As the Free Application for Federal Student Aid opens on October 1st, local students are being encouraged to apply.
Information for students who plan to apply for financial aid through the FAFSA is available through both the Amarillo Independent School District and Amarillo College.
With more resources available for FAFSA information, Amarillo ISD has reported a 5-year FAFSA submission growth of 88 percent. Amarillo College also plans several "hands-on" FAFSA events, however none are currently scheduled at the school.
The FAFSA program is a part of the United States Department of Education and currently assists more than 13 billion students with $120 billion in aid through federal grants, loans, and work-study funds.
