Randall County District Attorney James Farren has thrown his support behind Matt Hand in the race for Potter County Court-at-Law #1.
Hand, an attorney at Brown & Fortunato, announced this week that Farren has decided to support his campaign. Farren issued a letter calling for Potter County voters to support Hand based upon his observations about Hand's career.
"He possesses the intelligence, the work ethic and most importantly the temperament to make an effective judge," Farren said in his statement. "I believe Matt will do a great job in this role."
Farren, the district attorney for Randall County, announced his retirement in December. Farren made the decision not to seek re-election as sources have stated Farren plans to teach courses at West Texas A&M University.
Hand is facing Potter County prosecutor Wade Overstreet and Amarillo attorney Jerry Morales in the March 6th Republican primary race. No Democrats or third-party candidates have filed to run in November, meaning the winner of the Republican nomination will likely become the next Potter County Court at Law #2 judge, succeeding the retiring Judge Pamela Cook Sirmon.
