Dr. Nick Flynn Recognized by American Chemical Society

"Dr. Nick Flynn, Ross W. Wilson Chair in Chemistry at West Texas A&M University, has been named the recipient of the 2018 Local Section Outreach Volunteer of the Year Award by the American Chemical Society (ACS) Committee of Community Activities (CCA). Flynn will be presented a certificate and gift at a local section meeting and recognized in the spring 2018 issue of Chemical & Engineering News.

CCA established the Volunteer of the Year award in an effort to recognized the valuable outreach efforts of local section volunteers. Each local section has the opportunity to recognize a volunteer who demonstrates outstanding service throughout the year. Volunteers are eligible for recognition once every five years.

Flynn is an active member of the American Chemical Society Panhandle Plains local section, where he is serving a three-year term as councilor. He also is faculty sponsor for the American Chemical Society Student Affiliates chapter at WTAMU. In addition to representing the local section at national ACS meetings each year, Flynn has volunteered his time providing Earth Day demonstrations, National Chemistry Week demonstrations and serving as Chemistry Olympiad coordinator.

For more information about the American Chemical Society Panhandle Plains local section or the WTAMU student Affiliates chapter, contact Flynn at 806-651-2542 or at nflynn@wtamu.edu."
