Dalhart Judge Named Chair of State Board

A Dalhart resident has been named the new chairman of a state board by Governor Greg Abbott.

On Monday, Abbott announced the appointment of Wes Ritchey as chairman of the Texas Juvenile Justice Board. Ritchey was appointed to the board in January of 2017 and serves as the board's  of the Finance and Audit Committee.

Ritchey is the county judge for Dallam County, where he is tasked with hearing juvenile cases for the county. Ritchey also serves on the Dallam-Hartley-Sherman County Juvenile Probation Board.

According to Governor Abbott's office, the Texas Juvenile Justice Board is "charged with developing and implementing rules to govern the department, executive director and staff, and... the mission...for the department to emphasize keeping youth in home communities while balancing rehabilitative needs with public safety."
