Amarillo Gander Mountain Location to Reopen

Amarillo's Gander Mountain location is set to reopen this spring.

According to information released today by Camping World, celebrity investor Marcus Lemonis bought Gander Mountain's assets in bankruptcy court in May 2017 and is beginning to reopen many of the chain's stores. The store reopenings are aimed to serve those who partake in hunting, fishing, water-sports, camping, shooting sports and other outdoor activities.

Camping World says that the Gander Outdoors location is on track to reopen in early March to mid-April. The store's reopening is set to bring more than 70 jobs to Amarillo along with its outdoor retail, apparel, supply and service space.

In a video posted to Facebook on Wednesday, Lemonis confirmed that the Amarillo location of Gander Outdoors is on tap to be opened before June of 2018. The location is expected to be open sometime after the Roanoke, Virginia and Fort Wayne, Indiana locations.

“It was important to me to bring the Gander Outdoors back to the wonderful community of Amarillo because the employees were top notch and the store was a great performer serving the outdoor enthusiast community,” Lemonis said in a press release. “In addition to the Amarillo location, we are currently pursuing other locations for reopening and expansion and expect to announce additional locations and markets in the coming weeks.”

Camping World says that details will soon be announced regarding the store's official reopening date. A ribbon cutting ceremony and public reopening event are also planned.
