YCCO Seeking New Locations for Shelter

Yellow City Community Outreach is seeking a new location for its warming shelter.

According to information released online, YCCO is seeking a new location for the shelter. Officers with YCCO say that after the organization decided to part ways with the leadership of the Guyon Saunders Resource Center shelter, the organization is looking to start up a new operation.

Kit Rudd, vice president of YCCO, says the organization is looking to operate a shelter like that which was opened in 2016 and 2017.

"Our job is to catch people who fall through cracks," Rudd said. "There are a bunch of people who, for some reason or another, won't be able to go into shelter. They are falling through cracks at GSRC and there are safety issues. We felt we could best serve by opening another shelter of the same type we did last year."

In the end, Rudd says he and the organization are committed to one goal.

"It's all about saving lives," Rudd said. That's why I got in this business. People were dying on the street. And we're committed to helping those people."

If you have any ideas for a new warming center for Yellow City Community Outreach, please contact Kit Rudd at 806-433-3678.
