Obama Makes Texas Midterm Endorsements

President Barack Obama announced endorsements for a series of new Texas candidates this week.

On Monday, Obama announced a second wave of endorsements in Texas races, after endorsing a handful of contenders earlier this year. In the new endorsements, the former president announced his support for four congressional candidates and five Texas House candidates. Notable endorsements in this wave included Obama signaling support for Eric L. Johnson, a Democrat currently running for Speaker of the House, and Julie Johnson, who is challenging State Representative Matt Rinaldi (R-Irving).

Earlier this year, Obama announced endorsements of two congressional candidates in Texas. Included in that wave of endorsements was his support for Colin Allred, a Democrat running for the U.S. House of Representatives in central Texas. Allred, a former NFL player who served in the Obama Administration.
