Authorities are reporting several local bars failed compliance checks last week.
According to the Amarillo Police Department, on Thursday, APD completed compliance checks at several local bars. At each bar, bartenders served alcohol to minors serving under the guidance of police officers. The minors in the investigation did not consume any alcohol.
Authorities say selling an alcoholic beverage to a minor with “criminal negligence” is a Class A Misdemeanor. In addition to a fine and jail time, violators could find themselves with a suspended driver’s license.
Criminal charges are pending, APD says. All cases have been referred to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. The names of the bars involved were not released.
