They have been approved and they are coming to your neighborhood soon.
Beginning next week, Amarillo Public Works will host several meetings to inform residents about the new curbside trash collection program. The new program will feature plastic trash carts utilized in certain neighborhoods, including those currently using curbside bag collection and those with dead end alleys. City officials say the program will be “technologically advanced” for neighborhoods participating.
City Councilmembers approved the use of the trash carts earlier this year in a unanimous vote. Carts were purchased for the program at a cost of around $250,000 earlier this year.
The meetings will be held at the following times and locations:
Monday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m., Pleasant Valley Elementary, 4413 River Road
Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m., Avondale Elementary School, 1500 S. Avondale
Thursday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m., Lamar Elementary School, 3800 S. Lipscomb
Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m., Bivins Elementary School, 1500 S. Fannin
Thursday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m., Hillside Christian Church, 3508 N.E. 24th Ave.
