City Council Votes Unanimously to Approve Trash Carts

Some Amarillo neighborhoods could soon be receiving trash carts to replace dumpsters.

On Tuesday night, the Amarillo City Council voted unanimously to approve the purchase of trash carts to replace dumpsters in certain areas of Amarillo. The vote approved an initial order of trash carts to replace dumpsters at homes without alleys and with dumpsters in front yards.

As we reported last week, the Amarillo City Council has been considering ditching dumpsters in certain neighborhoods for some time. If approved, the City Council will be ordering a single trash cart for every home affected by the change. Additional carts and replacement carts may be available soon after, likely at a cost, according to City documents.

The City Council will still need to vote again on the resolution before it will officially become an ordinance in Amarillo.
