Claudette Smith has filed a treasurer appointment for a possible run for a seat on the City Council.
This week, Smith’s campaign confirmed that she has filed a treasurer appointment for a possible campaign for a seat on the Amarillo City Council. Smith’s treasurer appointment will not guarantee her a place on the ballot, as she will still have to file an official application during the filing period next year.
Smith had previously announced that she would run for mayor, but did not provide a press release clarifying for which seat her treasurer appointment indicated a campaign.
All five incumbent members of the City Council currently have active treasurers. Tom Warren, Hayden Pedigo, and Steven Rosas have also filed treasurer appointments with the city secretary.
The election will be held in May 2019.
