Amarillo College Enrollment Flat Over Past Year

Amarillo College's enrollment has remained flat over the past year.

Officials from AC are reporting that the school's enrollment has remained exactly the same since January 31, 2017. The number of students currently enrolled in courses at Amarillo College currently stands at 9,077.

While the school's enrollment has remained flat, total community college enrollment rates are down nationwide. AC officials say that national trends have shown decreases in enrollment nationally of about 2 to 4 percent.

Bob Austin, vice president of student affairs at AC, says that the flat numbers show students are more likely to succeed at Amarillo College.

"The stability of our headcount enrollment in recent years is especially good news considering the declining community college enrollments being reported nationwide," Austin said in a statement. "At the same time, our students are taking more classes, which means they will graduate or transfer faster, or be more likely to succeed."
