APD Says Banbury Consumed Alcohol Prior to Fatal Crash

The Amarillo Police Department issued a statement on Friday, reporting that Adam Banbury, 19, consumer alcohol prior to a fatal crash that occurred on Interstate 40.

According to APD, investigators have developed information that Banbury purchased alcohol at a local convenience store and had been served alcohol at two local on-site consumption locations prior to the fatal crash. Officials say that information has been shared with other agencies and the Traffic Follow Up Unit is following up with businesses to determine how the transactions occurred.

Under Texas law, it is a Class A misdemeanor to sell alcohol to a minor.

The incident is still under investigation.
