Amarillo voters can make their voices heard beginning next Tuesday as early voting begins across Texas.
On Tuesday, February 20th, voters will begin going to the polls to decide hotly contest primary races for the Republican Party and Democratic Party. Voters in both parties will decide statewide contests, as nearly every major statewide office is contested in the primaries this year. Locally, Republican voters will decide contested races for this area's State Senate seat, a state legislative seat and several local judicial contests.
In order to vote, voters are not required to register with either party ahead of time, as Texas has an open primary system. However, once you vote in one party's primary, you may not vote in any resulting runoffs for a different party or participate in a convention of another party. You may vote for any candidate you wish in November, regardless of party.
