Earlier this week, Amarillo College president Russell Lowery-Hart attempted to address campus safety concerns following a shooting at a Florida high school that killed several students.
In an email to faculty, students and College employees, Lowery-Hart attempted to address any concerns that may be had by reminding students of the College's Emergency Management Plan. Lowery-Hart sent a bulletpointed version of the plan to those in the email as a way to assure students that officials within the administration are prepared for any incidents that may occur.
"Given the shooting last week and the conversations it has created between you and me, I want to remind you of our Emergency Management plan and share the work we have completed over the past year," Lowery-Hart told recipients in the email. "We have a clear Emergency Management Plan."
Lowery-Hart ended the email with a call for students and faculty to review the plan with "no excuses."
