Zoning Board to Talk Tiny Houses

Amarillo's Planning and Zoning Commission will be looking at making a zoning change to allow for tiny houses in Amarillo next week.

On Monday, the Planning and Zoning Commission will take up an item that would allow a zoning change from Multiple Family to Planned Development with a permit for tiny houses. The area at North Rusk and Northwest 3rd Avenue is where the zoning change may happen.

The zoning change has been aimed at for sometime by Yellow City Community Outreach. The local homeless advocacy group has been looking since at least 2015 at creating some sort of tiny house village in Amarillo.

Also on the board's agenda is a zoning change from Residential to Retail at South Washington and Wolflin and a potential recommendation for a vacation at Southwest 8th Avenue and South Coulter.

The meeting will be held at 3pm in the Council Chambers of Amarillo City Hall (509 Southeast 7th Avenue) on Monday, February 26th.
