Officers Arrest Drivers of Stolen Vehicles

In two separate incidents, Amarillo Police officers arrested drivers of stolen vehicles last week.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, on Wednesday, February 21st, officers were dispatched in the early morning hours to the 1800 block of South Grand Street on the report of a stolen vehicle. The owner had left the vehicle running and went inside of the store. When the owner came back, the vehicle was gone.

Officers located the stolen truck in the area of Southeast 11th Avenue and Russell. The driver of the truck fled from officers and led officers on a chase that stopped at the 1400 block of Pryor. On Pryor, the driver fled on foot and officers caught him and placed him under arrest.

Brandon Robertson, 24, was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest or Detention in a Vehicle, and Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot. He was booked into the Potter County Detention Center. 

On Thursday, February 22nd, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of North Marrs on the report of a stolen vehicle. The owner had left the vehicle running and went inside. When he came back, the vehicle was gone.

Officers located the stolen Jeep Cherokee in the area and the driver refused to stop. The pursuit was then discontinued.

At 8pm, officers again located the Jeep in a parking lot at 2500 Interstate 40 East. The suspect fled and refused to stop. The suspect then entered Interstate 40 and drove east to the Eastern Street exit where he rolled the vehicle. The suspect then fled on foot and canine officers were able to capture the suspect. Elijah Malek Saucedo, 20, was found hiding in a stack of tires. Saucedo was found in possession of personal identifiers and banking information linking him to the stolen vehicle. Saucedo was booked into the Potter County Detention Center for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest or Detention in a Vehicle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and two local municipal warrants.
