Amarillo Native Palmer Continues Beer Money Tradition at Golf Tournament

Amarillo native and professional golfer Ryan Palmer continued a tradition on Friday at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday when he threw golf balls wrapped with $10 bills to those who had gathered at hole 16.

Palmer told golf fans the day prior that he would be at hole 16 with golf balls wrapped in $10 bills. After completing the 16th hole at the Waste Management Open, Palmer threw out the golf balls in a regular tradition for the Amarillo native.

According to CBS Sports, the tradition originally started when Palmer attempted to throw $20 bills to those gathered but the bills kept blowing back in his face. Palmer then decided the next year to tie the bills to golf balls.

Those who receive the balls use the money as part of Palmer's beer money promotion.
