Billups Continues Protest at City Hall

Kip Billups is continuing his protest at Amarillo City Hall.

On Monday night, the Amarillo Pioneer caught up with Billups as he continues to camp at Amarillo City Hall in an effort to raise awareness for members of Amarillo's homeless population. As we reported last month, Billups is protesting in an effort to raise awareness for his push to "decriminalize homelessness" in Amarillo, after the City of Amarillo forced the shutter of the Christ Church Camp of New Beginnings. Immediately following the start of his protest, Billups was also arrested at Amarillo City Hall.

Billups said on Monday night that he has since moved his location from the grass near the south entrance of the building to close to the building's door, after the City of Amarillo began its grass resoding on Monday. Billups has also continued to hand out flyers on the steps of Amarillo City Hall and has even attempted to lobby members of the City Council while sitting on the steps.

Billups says that he will continue to sit at Amarillo City Hall until members of the Amarillo City Council choose to repeal the ordinance that caused the closure of the Christ Church Camp of New Beginnings.
