YCCO Gets OK on Tiny Houses, Names Ferguson Exec. Director

March has been a big month for Yellow City Community Outreach.

On Tuesday, the organization got approval to construct four tiny homes in North Amarillo. The Amarillo City Council voted unanimously to approve the zoning permission for the site on North Rusk, affirming a decision by the Amarillo Planning and Zoning Commission. The group's prototype tiny house currently sits on North Buchanan Street and has been awaiting a zoning approval since 2016.

In addition, Yellow City Community Outreach named Sherri Ferguson as its first executive director this week. Ferguson is the wife of Dan Ferguson, president and former tiny house director for the organization.

In a post on Facebook, Dan Ferguson said that Sherri Ferguson will be perfect for the role.

"From the very beginning we knew those recommendations should come from our advocate director which Sherrie has filled that role," Ferguson wrote. She knows Amarillo's homeless like few do."
