One congressional candidate is hoping to turn the 13th District of Texas green this weekend on his way to turning it blue in November.
Greg Sagan, a Democrat running for the United States Congress, is hosting a St. Patrick's Day gathering this weekend in Amarillo. The event, "Green for Greg" invites supporters of the Democrat to take part in a potluck featuring traditional Irish dishes. Attendees are asked to bring their own bowl and an empty stomach.
Admission for the evening is $35 and an RSVP is required. Admission charges will be reported as donations to Sagan's campaign in his required filings with the Federal Elections Commission.
Sagan is a former newspaper columnist and Naval officer who is running against Republican Congressman Mac Thornberry in the November general election. Libertarian Calvin DeWeese, who has sought the seat in the past, is also running.
The event will take place at City Studios (3701 Plains Boulevard) on Saturday, March 17th.
