A underpass project in Dalhart has been completed on time and on budget, according to officials.
The $27 million Union Pacific Railroad underpass project on US 87 in Dalhart was completed this week, according to Texas Department of Transportation. Under the project, the underpass was dug out, increasing bridge clearance by about two feet. The change also allows commercial vehicles to have access to the underpass.
Dalhart Area Engineer Corky Neukam said in a statement that the meetings helped the project be a success.
“Those best practices consisted of weekly project meetings involving the state, consultant project management and inspection staff, Dalhart city leaders, and the contractor, all of which kept the project moving forward for this community,” Neukam said in the statement.. “I can’t thank the business owners and the citizens of Dalhart enough for their patience and understanding during construction and know that they have a much safer underpass for everyone to drive through more safely for years to come.”
