Steve Land, vice president of the Potter-Randall Democratic Club, claimed victory in last night's race over incumbent Gentry Powell. Land, who said he ran a positive campaign to not cause any major divisions in the party, toppled the incumbent Powell, with 737 votes, or about 52 percent, in the final unofficial tally from Tuesday night. Powell won 682 votes, or about 48 percent.
