A group of several corporations, including government vendors, are donating to fund a pro-bond campaign in central Texas.
According to reports with the Texas Ethics Commission, the For The Future PAC in Denton, has received contributions from multiple corporations. Multiple corporations, including Huckabee, Balfour Beatty, Highland Homes of Dallas, CBS Mechanical, VLK Architects, and Candace McShane Construction have made contributions to the campaign. In a report by the Texas Scorecard's Ross Kecseg, it is stated that each of these contributors would profit in some way, if the bond package is approved.
Voters in Denton are currently voting to decide a bond package that would grant $750.5 million in debt-backed funding to pay for various campus improvements around the district. According to the Denton ISD bond website, dentonisdbond.org, the issues in the bond package are planned to address "student enrollment growth, renovations to facilities, equity, infrastructure, security systems, career & technical education and extracurricular activities." School district officials are also claiming that the bond package will provide no debt increase to Denton voters, however, that claim has been disputed by some groups like Empower Texans.
