A West Texas A&M University track star has been named the 2018 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Player of the Year, according to WTAMU.
On Wednesday, Owen Hind was named the 2018 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field Men's Academic Player of the Year. The award recognized Hind as he participated in a record season, setting a school recording in the 5,000m. The London, England native also set other school records while appearing at the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championships.
Hind has become one of the top cross-country and distance runners in Lone Star Conference history as the London, England native has claimed three school records while making three appearances at the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships.
According to WTAMU, in order to be eligible for a Lone Star Conference academic honor, a student must "carry at least a 3.30 grade point average and have reached sophomore status both athletically and academically."
