Dear candidates,
Congratulations! You made it to election day. Some of you will win and others might lose. However, everyone sacrificed something to be on the ballot and that is important to note.
For those of you who win, the fun is only just beginning. It is now time to roll up your sleeves and work to make the changes and deliver on the pledges that you promised voters. It's also time to conduct yourself like someone who is a representative of the people, because you will soon become one.
For those who did not win, thank you for running. This is not the end. You still have the ability to create great change in this community and that is something that you should pursue.
During this election, I have been struck by the civility of the candidates. For the most part, the six Republicans on runoff ballots in Potter County today have been incredibly civil. I cannot recall seeing a single negative campaign stunt by any of the six candidates. That is something worth talking about.
At any rate, thank you all for running. Potter County and Amarillo, as a whole, are better because you chose to throw your hat into the ring.
