Governor Greg Abbott is expected to unveil a series of school safety plans on Wednesday, just weeks after the deadly shooting at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas.
Abbott, the incumbent Republican governor, will unroll plans on Wednesday in two separate events. According to the Texas Tribune, Abbott will announce the plans at events in Dallas and San Marcos. The plan will include immediate measures and measures that Abbott will encourage legislators to consider during the next legislative session. There are also rumors that Abbott may order a special session of the Texas Legislature to address school and gun safety issues, although this has not been officially confirmed.
The plans come as Abbott recently wrapped up a series of round table discussions with Texas legislators, shooting survivors, parents, educators, law enforcement officials and activists.
