Governor Abbott Honors Fallen Peace Officers

Governor Greg Abbott honored fallen Texas peace officers during a ceremony on Monday.

According to Governor Abbott's office, the Governor honored fallen peace officers at a ceremony in Austin. During the ceremony, which included a 21-gun salute, Abbott met with, and presented medals to, the families of the fallen officers.

In a statement, Abbott said that the officers honored on Monday answered the "call to protect" Texans in the line of duty.

"Today we are solemnly reminded of the dangers that those in law enforcement face answering the call to protect our communities,” Abbott said. “Through their service, they have joined a higher calling that only the finest choose to answer. We come together to honor the men and women who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Our prayers go out to the families of these officers who have made their communities safer, and Texas will never forget their sacrifices.”
