Governor Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of student regents for various university systems in Texas.
This week, Abbott announced the appointments, along with a student appointment to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Under state law, the governor is allowed to appoint a non-voting student regent for each public university system, with specific requirements for the regents to follow.
According to a press release, the following students were appointed to university boards of regents:

For Texas A&M University System: Ervin Bryant of Spring (B.A. in History/Prairie View A&M University)
For Texas Southern University: Kernard Jones of Houston (B.A. in Political Science/Texas Southern University)
For Texas State University System: Leanna Mouton of Houston (B.B.A./Texas State University)
For Texas Tech University System: Jane Gilmore of Dallas (Doctor of Medicine/Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine)
