Real estate sales in Amarillo are down through the first quarter of the year in Amarillo.
According to the Texas Association of Realtors Quarterly Housing Report, real estate sales in Amarillo were down over the past quarter compared to a year ago. Officials say that closed sales are down 6 percent, while prices on Amarillo are up 3.2 percent. Real estate officials also say that Amarillo homes are staying on the market longer now than a year ago.
Meanwhile, in the neighboring metropolitan area of Lubbock, real estate sales are up. Overall, sales are up 10 percent in the Hub City, while prices are also up approximately 12 percent. Homes are also staying on the market for a shorter period of time today in Lubbock than a year ago.
While Amarillo numbers are down, the statewide trend has seen an increase in sales, although at a slower level than that which has been seen in Lubbock. Across Texas, sales are up a hair over 2 percent and prices are up 5.7 percent. Homes across the state, on average, are staying on the market for the same amount of time as seen a year ago.
