Amarillo Incentive Board to Discuss Extending Its Own Lifespan

An Amarillo tax incentive board will be discussing whether or not to recommend extending its lifespan this week.

On Thursday, the Amarillo Center City Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Board will discuss and make possible direction on whether or not to extend the term on the Zone. The TIRZ area was first approved by Amarillo officials in late 2006 and has a 20-year life span. Officials may have the option of increasing the zone's lifespan, although it would be the first time in Amarillo's history that a TIRZ term has been extended, as the Center City TIRZ was the first of its kind in the city.

In addition, on Thursday, Board members will discuss TIRZ incentives for a project in the vicinity of the Southwest 8th Avenue and South Harrison Street intersection. Board members will also discuss taking action on a TIRZ incentive for the Vineyard Manor Townhomes project in downtown Amarillo.

The Center City TIRZ Board will meet on Thursday, May 10th in Room 306 of Amarillo City Hall (509 Southeast 7th Avenue). The meeting will begin at 12pm.
