18-Year-Old Arrested in Amarillo SWAT Incident

A teenager is in custody following an incident that included SWAT units this weekend.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers were dispatched early Friday evening to the 3600 block of South Western on the reported of a possible aggravated assault that involved domestic violence. When officers arrived, they found members of the family outside. The family members stated that the involved parties were inside. Officers attempted to make contact and did not get an answer.

Officers then determined that a subject may be armed with weapons, which prompted the dispatch of a SWAT unit. Officers determined that the subjects may have been in a vehicle in the area. Officers made contact with the subjects, and made agreements to meet. Al subjects were detained for further investigation.

Then, this weekend, APD announced that Braden Harley Beard, 18, was booked into the Randall County Jail. According to APD, he was booked on charges of Aggravated Assault w/Deadly Weapon, Continuous Violence Against the Family and Prohibited Weapon.
