Officials from West Texas A&M University announced a $2 million gift this week.
According to WTAMU, officials from the University announced a gift from Caviness Beef Packers this week. The $2 million gift will go along with the naming of the University's new meat lab as the Caviness Meat Science and Innovation Center. This center will be part of the new WTAMU Agriculture Complex.
Following the announcement, Dr. Ty Lawrence, agriculture sciences professor at WTAMU, praised the new gift from Caviness.
“Caviness Beef Packers has long been a supporter of WTAMU and the Department of Agricultural Sciences,” Dr. Ty Lawrence, professor of agricultural sciences at WTAMU, said. “They have been an open door for research collaboration and opportunities to teach students about the beef processing industry. Their thoughtful generosity will ensure continued opportunities for WTAMU students for generations to come.”
The gift also marks a milestone for WTAMU. Officials have now raised $8.5 million for the $10 million facility. Naming opportunities are still available for a large courtyard area, a 60-seat classroom, a 40-seat classroom, an outdoor amphitheater classroom and five research laboratories
