Fiesta Foods Rescues Tri-State Fair Parade

The Tri-State Fair Parade is back on for this year, thanks to donations from a local business.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Fiesta Foods has donated to save the Tri-State Fair Parade for 2018. The parade was originally cancelled after it was revealed that the City of Amarillo chose to pull financial support for the parade, while still planning to support some other parades.

"We are proud to sponsor the parade this year so that our customers, our neighborhood, our city and the entire panhandle can enjoy this tradition," Fiesta Foods announced in a statement on Wednesday.

Immediately following the announcement that the parade had been cancelled, several local business owners reportedly stepped up to offer donations to save the longtime tradition. Mike Fisher, a local haunted house proprietor, offered funds to save the parade during Tuesday's meeting of the Amarillo City Council and city manager Jared Miller announced that several other local businesses had also indicated their interest in saving the parade.

The parade will occur sometime before the Tri-State Fair and Rodeo this year. The Fair will be held from September 14-22.
