Amarillo College Employment Wins Honor

"Amarillo College has been named a “Great College to Work For” in The Chronicle of Higher Education’s eleventh annual survey on the academic workplace.

The Chronicle is one of the nation’s top trade publications for higher education. Each year it recognizes colleges and universities that earn top ratings from employee surveys on workforce practices and policies.

A total of only 84 institutions – including two-year colleges like Amarillo College, and four-year schools – were named to the 2018 Great Colleges to Work For list, which features 12 categories of recognition.

Amarillo College was recognized in the Work/Life Balancecategory, which embodies “policies that give employees flexibility to manage their lives on the job and at home.”

“We strive to empower our passionate faculty and staff do their best work,” Lyndy Forrester, vice president of employee and organizational development, said. “We are proud of their ability to achieve balance, and how they continue to help and encourage our students in every way.

“We believe that our Culture of Caring has created an atmosphere conducive to student success and made Amarillo College a truly great place to work.”

The Great Colleges to Work For survey was conducted by ModernThink LLC for The Chronicle and results are based on responses from more than 53,000 people at 253 institutions. Institutional data was drawn from the colleges and the U.S. Department of Education.
