City Plans Bus Stop Changes

"Over the coming weeks, Amarillo City Transit (ACT) will be making changes to all bus stop locations in preparation for the new route service implementation. The project will be broken into two phases to minimize as much customer disruption as possible.

Phase I will begin with routes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8 during the week of Monday, July 16, with Phase II following shortly thereafter on Monday, Aug. 6 with routes 5, 6, and 7. Due to the new inbound and outbound route approach, passengers can expect to see additional bus stops on the north and south sides of the streets as well as new areas of town. All new stop locations will either have an out of service sign or will be covered until the new service is implemented.

During these weeks, the current 1-8 routes will continue to be utilized. Even though there may not be a bus stop sign at your usual pick up location, ACT drivers will continue accepting passengers at those locations. Passengers utilizing the removed stop locations will need to signal the driver to board.

For more information please contact the Transit department at (806) 378-3095 or attend any of the upcoming public meetings regarding new fixed route services."
