Extra police officers will be on patrol in Amarillo during the July 4th holiday.
According to the Amarillo Police Department, extra officers will be out on patrol from June 29th through July 4th to focus on impaired drivers, due to the holidays. Officers will also be focusing on speeding violations and seatbelt violations.
Officials say that extra officers on patrol will be funded through a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation.
If you plan to travel during the July 4th holiday while impaired, you are encouraged to plan for alternative transportation ahead of time.
