The Amarillo Independent School District is seeking applications to fill a vacant spot on the local school board.
On Thursday, it was announced that Amarillo ISD is accepting applications to fill a vacant seat on the school board. The seat, which was held by trustee James Allen until his recent resignation, is the only seat that is currently vacant on the board and is the first vacancy to occur on the board in several years.
Applications will be accepted until August 1st at 5pm. Those who apply will be screened and possibly interviewed, and a replacement for Allen will be selected by September. The person who is appointed to the position will hold the seat until May of next year, when voters will choose a trustee in an unexpired term election. A regular election for the seat will then be held in 2021.
Those who are considering applying are asked to fill out an application, submit a resume, and a short essay on why they desire to serve on the board. Required documents can be delivered in person, by email to Terri.Marks@amaisd.org, or by mail to Amarillo ISD, Attn: Terri Marks, 7200 I-40 West, Amarillo, TX 79106.
For questions, you are asked to call the Amarillo ISD Business Office at 806-326-1121.
