"TheBestSchools.org has named West Texas A&M University’s general studies degree program as one of the top online Bachelor’s in General Studies degree programs in the nation.
TheBestSchools.org reviewed all online bachelor’s in general degree programs across the country and selected the top 45 schools to provide prospective students with the information needed to make the right choice when selecting an online program. An online general studies bachelor’s degree is one of the most flexible degree options available. It offers a plan of study that allows students to incorporate a variety of topics into a single degree with career options ranging from education to marketing.
WTAMU’s online general studies degree is offered in a hybrid format and requires 120 credit hours, including at least 78 hours of electives and 39 hours of advanced courses. The program does not allow a minor so that students can focus on a chosen academic discipline.
“We are excited that our program has been recognized as a top online program in the nation,” Dr. Jessica Mallard, dean of the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities. “This online degree provides a great option for returning students or students who work full time to be able to complete their degree.”
To determine the rankings, TheBestSchools.org looked at six categories—academic excellence, strength of faculty scholarship, reputation, financial aid, range of degree programs and strength of online instruction methodology. Added criteria for the rankings included accreditation, acceptance rate, graduation rate and retention rate as well as ACT and SAT requirements.
