Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is still holding a lead over his Democratic rival in a new poll released this week.
In a new Quinnipiac University poll, Cruz, Republican incumbent and former presidential candidate, led with 49 percent of measured support in a new poll for Texas' U.S. Senate race. Meanwhile, Democratic Congressman Beto O'Rourke held 43 percent. The remaining percentage of measured support was undecided, chose someone else or stated that they would not vote. The poll was lacking one candidate in the race for the seat - Libertarian Neal Dikeman.
This is the second poll released this week showing Cruz with a lead over O'Rourke. The other poll, released by Texas Lycecum, had Cruz leading O'Rourke by two points, 41 percent to 39 percent among "likely voters." Dikeman won 1 percent in this poll.
Meanwhile, the poll also surveyed support in the race for Texas' gubernatorial spot. Respondents chose Republican Greg Abbott over Democrat Lupe Valdez, 51 percent to 38 percent. Libertarian Mark Tippetts was not included in the poll.
