It's time for the next chapter for the building at 4400 South Georgia.
This week, the Loft Church in Amarillo announced that it has acquired a large building at 4400 South Georgia. The building, first erected in 1968, according to appraisal records, was the home of one of Amarillo's most popular bars and dance clubs for the better part of two decades. Today, the former home of the Midnight Rodeo is set to become the new home of the Loft Church.
Matt Johnson, the lead pastor for the Loft Church, said that he is excited about the acquisition of the building and believes that it will be a beneficial move for the church.
"There's a real redemption story there," Johnson said. "We're excited."
The former dance hall, which once hosted the likes of country stars Pat Green, Aaron Watson, Josh Abbott and Cody Johnson will soon be the new home for the Loft's congregation. While the property once had a reputation as a local taproom, Johnson says that the Loft Church is ready to bring the community spirit and the word of Christ to the facility.
"As far as the redemption story, we have all been redeemed," Johnson said. "We know the stories, and some of us even lived the stories, but we now get to see something great happen. I'm excited to see the building used and to see it remain a part of this community."
