Home of Former Amarillo Bar to Become Church

A building that was once home to one of Amarillo's most popular bars, the Midnight Rodeo, will soon be transformed into a church.

This week, it was announced that the Loft Church has acquired the building that was once home of the Midnight Rodeo. In an announcement on Facebook, a person identifying as a ministry director with the church announced the acquisition, saying that the process had been two months in the making.

We have reached out to the Loft Church for comment and will update this story once comment is available.

As we previously reported, the Midnight Rodeo was one of Amarillo's premiere country-western dance clubs for many years. The longtime fixture hosted hundreds of future country stars in concert and people could be seen flocking from around the area when the club was open to dance, drink and listen to country tunes. The bar was closed last year in a sudden move by the club's owner.
