Last week, Senator Ted Cruz called for launching astronauts into space following an announcement at the Johnson Space Center in Houston.
According to the Senator's Office, Cruz attended NASA's announcement naiming the astronauts assigned to test flights and maiden voyages of the Boeing CST-100 Starliner and SpaceX Crew Dragon.
Following the announcement Cruz called space exploration important for Houston, Texas and America, and said that astronauts will be launched into space again from American soil.
“Today was a tremendously important announcement for Houston, for Texas, and for America,” Cruz said. “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in America’s leadership in space exploration. For seven years, America has had to rely on Russian rockets to get to space. But soon, the U.S. will once again launch American astronauts from U.S. soil. I have every confidence Texas will continue leading the way for America’s leadership in space, and I look forward to the test flights and maiden voyages of the Boeing CST-100 Starliner and SpaceX Crew Dragon.”
