Potter Sheriff Finds Drugs, AK-47 in Narcotics Search

The Potter County Sheriff's Office is reporting discovering drugs and firearms during the execution of a search warrant on Wednesday.

According to Potter County, authorities served a narcotics search warrant on Wednesday afternoon. Three suspects were found at the residence at the time of the warrant. During the search, deputies found methamphetamines in multiple baggies, marijuana, an AK-47 rifle, and a 9mm pistol.

Sapphire Esparza, 25, was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on charges of manufacture delivery of controlled substance penalty group 1 between 4 and 200 grams, unlawful possession of firearm by felon, and possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces. Lorraine Cortez, 31, was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a charge of possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces. Julian Avila, 47, was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a charge of possession drug paraphernalia.

All charges stemmed from the search warrant. An investigation is still ongoing at the time of this information's release.
