Woodley Beats Till in UFC Dallas Event

Tyron Woodley is still the UFC Welterweight Champion following his clash with undefeated contender Darren Till at UFC 228 in Dallas.

On Saturday night, Woodley submitted Till during the first round of a five round championship fight at UFC 228. The event, held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, featured a star-studded card, which ended with Woodley become the active UFC champion with the most title defenses.

Woodley's matchup with Till was highly-anticipated as the Missouri-based Woodley was set to meet Liverpool's Till for the title. Woodley went into the fight as the betting underdog, with Las Vegas odds favoring the Englishman.

The bout came about after UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Colby Covington was unable to fight on the September card following a surgery.

Another title bout scheduled for the card, which would have pitted UFC Women's Flyweight Champion Nicco Montano against challenger Valentina Shevchenko, was scrapped after Montano was sent to a local hospital for kidney issues. The UFC stripped Montano of her belt following the hospitalization.
