Women's Flyweight Bout Scheduled for UFC Return to Texas

One women's title will be on the line when the UFC rolls into Texas in September.

This week, it was announced that Nicco Montaño will defend her UFC World Flyweight Championship for the first time in Dallas on September 8th. Montaño is set to face Valentina Shevchenko in her first title defense since winning the title last year. Shevchenko is a former UFC World Bantamweight Championship challenger. Shevchenko lost her only UFC title fight to Amanda Nunes at UFC 196, by unanimous decision.

Also, it is rumored that the UFC is planning a men's title bout at the event, likely with UFC World Welterweight Championship holder Tyron Woodley at the helm. Woodley, if he is eventually scheduled on the card, appears most likely to face interim belt holder Colby Covington or #2 ranked welterweight Darren Till.

UFC 228 will be held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday, September 8th. Tickets go on sale soon.
