Senator Ted Cruz has a nine point lead over Democrat Beto O’Rourke in a brand new poll released this week.
According to a new poll of “likely” voters by Quinnipiac University, Cruz is leading Beto O’Rourke in a hypothetical November matchup, 54 percent to 45 percent. The survey, which did not include Libertarian candidate Neal Dikeman, had Cruz leading among men, women and white voters, while O’Rourke narrowly leads among Hispanic voters and has a solid lead among African-American voters.
Meanwhile, Governor Greg Abbott is also heavily favored in the poll to defeat his Democratic challenger, Lupe Valdez. Abbott leads Valdez in the poll, 58 percent to 39 percent. Libertarian Mark Tippetts was not included in the poll.
Voters will decide each of these races in November.
